Administrative Penalties and Sanctions


Minor ffenses

Cases of misbehavior or other disciplinary problemns should be reported to the College Dean of the student in question.

Penalties and Sanctions

The school adopts the manual of Regulations for Private Schools for disciplinary administrations which may be imposed upon erring students:

1. Expulsion - this is an extreme form of sanction  which debara a students from all public and private schools. It requires the approval of TESDA or DECS or CHED

2. Suspension - a student is suspended from the schools for definite period of time not exceeding 20% of the prescribed school days for serious infration of school rules and regulations. Absences incurred during the days of suspension are considered part of the allowable limit for absences. After the suspension period, the student must report to the office of the Guidance Counselor

3. Dismissal - the institution reserves the right to drop or dismiss a student at naytime who is found after due investigation to have seriously violated the rules and regulations of the school. Students who have been dismissed from SOuthern Mindanao Institute of Technology, however will be granted transfer credentials

Other Penalties

1. Reprimand or Admonition

2. Failure in course or examination

3. Disqualication from receiving graduation honors

4. Denial of academic privileges or scholarships

5. Payments of actual damage inflicted

  ADMISSION

Admission to the Southern Mindanao Institute of Technology is granted with definite understanding that th student and his/her parents/guardian explicity agree to comply with the scholastic standards, policies and regulations of the school.

The school reserves the right whenever it is necessary and expedient to deal with the violations in accordance with the system of discipline and guidance; and, the right to dismiss any student for poor scholastic records or undesirable conduct or for violations of the school rules, regulations and policies.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

A. Freshmen enrollees shall comply the following requirements:
1. Form 138 (high school card)
2. Recommendation of good moral character from the principal where he or she graduated.
3. He/She must have taken the SMIT admission examination in courses that required such examination.

B. Transferee s must bring:
1. Transfer credential (honorable dismissal)
2. Certificate of good moral character from the school last attended.
3. Copy of the subjects taken with the respective grades and credits earned duly signed by the registrar of school last attended for evaluation purposes.

CONDITIONAL ADMISSION:

Continuing/Returning and Transferee, who failed in three subjects enrolled in the preceding semester maybe admitted conditionally he/she will be put on probation and must be deloaded in accordance with the discretion of the registrar. His/He probationary status ceases when he/she has recovered his/her failures.
REFUSED RE-ADMISSION:

Re-admission is refused to SMIT student for the following reasons:

1. Made no academic improvement with in the probationary period.
2. The student continues to have poor health.
3. The student has been a disciplinary problem.
4. Student who fals three subjects ib the preceding semester.
